AI visibility
AI visibility is the measure of how often, in what position and with what tone a brand appears in the answers of engines like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity when someone asks about its category.

AI visibility is the measure of a brand's presence inside LLM-generated answers. It answers three questions: does the model mention you?, in what position within the answer?, and how does it describe you? It is the central metric of GEO and AEO.
How is AI visibility measured?
- Mention rate: in what percentage of answers to your key prompts your brand appears.
- Position: whether you are named first, in the middle, or at the end of the option list.
- Share of Voice: your share of mentions against the total number of brands named.
- Sentiment: whether the model describes you in positive, neutral or negative terms.
- Cited sources: which domains the model uses to back the answer.
Why is it different from a Google ranking?
On Google there are ten results and the user can scroll. In an AI answer there is a single output, usually naming two or three brands. Being off that list is equivalent to not existing for that buyer. That is why AI visibility tends to be binary and volatile: it shifts with every model update.
How to improve AI visibility
Publish question-and-answer content, strengthen your entity signals (Wikidata, press, directories), add an llms.txt file, and earn citations on the domains the model already treats as authorities. Then measure week over week to confirm progress.
